Healthcare providers are taught that patient safety always comes first. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you about a story that first surfaced back in 2013. The story involved a Tulsa, Oklahoma oral surgeon who exposed thousands of patients to HIV and Hepatitis C because of poor sterilization practices. In 2016, this oral surgeon, who was also charged and found guilty of fraudulent billing practices, surrendered his license and was sentenced to 2 years probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution. Unfortunately, one of his patients did contract Hepatitis C from this clinic. These stories are unsettling and could make one think twice before having a procedure performed.
At McGann Facial Design, we wanted to take this unfortunate incident to remind all of our current and potential patients that we never compromise on safety. We follow all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) laws and regulations applicable to our practice. We perform weekly spore checks on our sterilizer and insure that all equipment is maintained to manufacturer standards. In short, we never compromise patient safety.
To find out more about our safety practices, check out our new web change (under patient resources) dedicated exclusively to patient safety. Of course, feel free to contact our office by phone or send any questions by email.
